Service Description
This is a 2 day course aimed to provide candidates with introductory knowledge for crewing a sailing vessel (monohull or catamaran) up to 15 meters in inland or coastal waters <5 miles offshore during daylight hours in moderate wind and sea conditions. Recommended Entry Level Requirements - At least 10 years of age Certificate Limitations - Crewing a vessel (monohull or catamaran) up to 15 meters - Inland or coastal waters <5 miles offshore - Daylight hours - Moderate wind and sea conditions Course Outline - Personal and Boat Safety Equipment - Sailing Terms, Equipment & Handling Skills - Basic Ropework - Man-Overboard Procedures - Anchors, Anchoring & Running Aground - Compasses - Buoyage - Collision Regulations & Navigation Lights The ”Introductory sailing skills” course, you will get you more hands on and more involved than the “Try sailing” course. This is a good choice for those who know they will be on the water again sailing and want to know more about the operation of a sailboat under way. In addition to that we will introduce some safety, right of way and hands on sailing and knot work that will put you on the path to becoming a competent sailor.
